Age of Empires Online brings the famous real-time strategy experience of Age of Empires to an exciting online, mission-based format. As in the previous games in the series, most of the missions involve building a strong economy, forming a powerful army, and defeating all enemies. Eventually, you will encounter missions with unique objectives that add variety to the gameplay.
Capital City Development
Between missions, you can develop your capital city, where players can equip their units, unlock new technologies, and create special items. Items can be acquired through missions, purchased, or crafted, each offering specific bonuses for certain types of units. For example, a copper sword may provide a 3% damage increase for Hoplites, enhancing their effectiveness in combat. Technologies are unlocked using technology points, which are gained by leveling up. Only unlocked technologies can be researched during missions, allowing for deeper strategic planning.
Diversified Missions
The game includes both story missions and optional side missions, with some of them being repeatable to earn more experience points, items, and gold. This mix of missions offers players various ways to develop their city and army, making each playthrough unique and rewarding.
